Moldova Crisis Line

If you or someone you know is in immediate distress or having thoughts of suicide, please call:

📞 0 800 1 1166
Free · Available 24 hours · 7 days a week · In Romanian and Russian

You do not need to be in immediate danger to call. If you are struggling, worried, or simply need to talk to someone, the line is there for you.

What To Do If You Are In Crisis

If you are having thoughts of suicide or self-harm:

1. Tell someone you trust right now — a family member, friend, or neighbour
2. Call 0 800 1 1166 (free, 24/7)
3. Go to the nearest emergency department if you feel unsafe
4. Remove access to means of harm if possible (ask someone to help you)

You do not have to act on these thoughts. Thoughts of suicide are a sign that you are in more pain than you can currently cope with — not that death is the only way out. Help exists.

How To Help Someone Else

If you are concerned about someone:

• Ask them directly: "Are you thinking about suicide?" Asking does not plant the idea — research consistently shows it reduces risk.
• Listen without judgement. Do not minimise their pain or tell them to "look on the bright side."
• Stay with them. Do not leave someone in acute crisis alone.
• Help them access support — offer to call the crisis line together or accompany them to a doctor.
• Take care of yourself too. Supporting someone in crisis is emotionally demanding.

You do not need to have all the answers. Being present and caring matters most.
